SAINT PAUL, MINN. March 14, 2018 - The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus & Political Action Committee states our strong opposition to the secret gun control strategy being developed and pushed by a group of DFL Senators.
"Earlier this week we obtained minutes of a meeting of several anti-gun DFL Senators who were devising a comprehensive gun control strategy, " said Bryan Strawser, Chair. "This morning, we saw the first step in this gun control strategy with the introduction of Senator Dibble's SF 3331, a comprehensive firearms magazine ban and registration bill that is nothing more than an assault on law-abiding gun owners in Minnesota in order to push a failed agenda."
"Senator Dibble's magazine ban requires registration of magazines, an annual fee set by local police, adherence to whatever ambiguous standard is adopted by local law enforcement, and a prohibition on transfer or sale for your lifetime, " added Rob Doar, VP & Political Director. "The bill even forces citizens to allow the police to inspect their home without a warrant in order to 'verify compliance'."

"It's clear from the secret discussions being held by a group of DFL Senators that rather than bringing workable solutions forward to improve school safety and address the issues of criminal misuse of firearms that they would prefer to move forward with a highly divisive approach that will fall almost entirely on the law-abiding citizens of Minnesota, " added Strawser. "Their approach would pull valuable police resources away from their role in preventing and investigating crime and focus them instead on inspecting the homes of law-abiding Minnesotans."
"Our organization will continue to oppose ineffective solutions that infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Minnesota, " added Doar. "I hope that positive bipartisan progress towards making our schools safer isn't held up by the gun control agenda of a small group of legislators."
