Adopt a Highway Cleanup Day

MNGOC Adopt-A-Highway Pickup Event

Sunday May 23, 2021
1075 Highway 96 East, White Bear Lake, MN 55127
8:00am – 11:00am (until completed)

Please join us in cleaning up the shoulders of north and southbound Interstate 35E on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021. Our stretch is from Highway 96 to County Road H2. We pick-up each shoulder facing oncoming traffic for safety purposes and will not be picking up the median.

We’ll meet at the McDonalds/Walgreens parking lot at approximately 7:45am. Please park on the side of the lot facing Highway 96.

Volunteers will be asked to pick up an approximately 1.75 mile stretch of I-35E. You should bring clothing appropriate to the weather, hat, water bottle, gloves, and a “pick-up stick” (stick with nail/screw in the end) or pickup tongs. We’ll have a small number of pick-up sticks and gloves available for those who forget their own. Each volunteer will be provided a neon MNDOT safety vest, and trash bags.

We’ll do a quick safety briefing ahead of the pickup. You’ll be shuttled from the end of the pickup route on the Southbound side, and the start of the pickup route on the Northbound side. If you’re available to shuttle people in your vehicle, please let the organizer know.

We’ll have snacks, coffee and water available afterwards for volunteers.

Open to all people age 18 or older. Please don’t bring kids, they’re not allowed to participate on Interstate Highways by law. Leave your pets home as well. 😊

Patrick Watson, longtime Caucus volunteer is the Event Organizer. Please direct any questions to him via email at [email protected], or day of you may call his cell at 612-214-4559.

Thanks for volunteering and we’ll see you on the 23rd!!
