SAINT PAUL, MINN. March 14, 2016 – The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus & Political Action Committee today released their 2015 Legislative Scorecard and announced legislative award winners.
"We're excited to unveil our 2015 Legislative Scorecard outlining the voting records of legislators in the Minnesota House and Senate on gun rights issues during the 2015 legislative session, " said Bryan Strawser, Executive Director. "With the 2016 legislative session underway, and gun control bills on the table at the legislator, it is critically important that Minnesota's two-and-a-half-million law-abiding gun owners understand where their legislators stand on this important issue."
In addition to the breakdown of votes for gun rights legislation during the 2015 session, the scorecard also announced the recipients of the organization's' 2015 legislative awards.
"It's an honor to recognize a select group of Minnesota Legislators that that have contributed the most to advocacy, public policy, and legislation on behalf of Minnesota's gun owners, " added Rob Doar, Political Director. "The winners of our Friend of the Second Amendment Award, along with the legislators selected for Honorable Mention, were our strongest allies during the 2015 session."
The group also announced that Representative David Dill will posthumously receive their highest award, the Minuteman Award, which recognizes the lifetime contributions of a Minnesotan in protecting and advancing the constitutional rights of gun owners in the state.
"Rep. Dill was a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment who advocated tirelessly for the right to keep and bear arms, outdoor recreation, hunting, and the shooting sports, " said Doar. "He is greatly missed by all who knew him."
